Alumni of The Glasgow Academy and Westbourne School for Girls are central to The Academy community. Our External Relations team maintains and develops on-going contact with our former pupils, former parents and staff, to ensure a friendly, active and supportive community for life.

Reunions & Events

The Academical Dinner each November is our major annual gathering and we also organise a number of year-group reunions every term where alumni of The Glasgow Academy and Westbourne School for Girls can get together to catch up and reminisce.

Supporting The Academy

Our multi award-winning Saunders Centre for Science and Food Technology is a fantastic addition to our campus. The creation of this first-class facility was made possible with the help and support of the entire Glasgow Academy community. We are hugely grateful to all who support The Academy’s vision and we greatly appreciate every gift, large or small.

Glasgow Academy for business

The Academy is a worldwide network of individuals - former pupils, current and former parents - with contacts and experience across a diverse range of business disciplines. Our regular business breakfasts and careers evenings are just two ways in which we are successfully partnering with business people in The Academy community.

Our Publications

The Academy has two current publications - Etcetera and The Chronicle - as well as a wealth of fascinating archive material from The Academy, the Glasgow Academical Club and Westbourne School for Girls. Feel free to browse the links below.

Etcetera

In 2006 we started a magazine for former pupils and friends of The Glasgow Academy and Westbourne School. Its purpose is to enable those who have a connection with or an interest in either school (or both) to catch up with news of what's going on. It contains news stories, Club pages, profiles of former pupils and updates… anything, in fact, that we think will be of interest to readers. The Chronicle

The Chronicle is The Academy's yearbook, reflecting on the events and achievements of each academic session and was first published in 1899. As the result of the generosity of a small number of Academicals, each edition from that date up until the present day is now available to view online. Academy & Westbourne Archive

Over the years The Glasgow Academy and the Academical Club have published a number of important historical and commemorative books. We now also have a collection of publications from Westbourne School for Girls, including Westbourne Magazines. These can be viewed online or downloaded and are searchable by name/keyword.
