The Diana Award

The Glasgow Academy Prep School has been working with The Diana Award since August 2017 to raise awareness of how to combat bullying in schools. We have a team of Anti-Bullying Ambassadors (ABAs) from Prep 5, 6 & 7 who work closely alongside staff to develop Anti-Bullying awareness and strategies in the Prep School.

We were also the first school in the UK to be awarded the Gold Level Anti-Bullying Accreditation which was awarded in June 2019.

The main role of our Ambassadors is to help develop a whole-school approach to Anti-Bullying, which is peer led. We meet regularly to discuss any bullying issues that might affect the school. We also work on scenarios that might occur in school and discuss what we can do as ABAs in these situations. We plan whole-school and class activities to raise awareness of anti-bullying in the Prep School, for example the Anti-Bullying Ambassadors have developed activities for Anti-Bullying week and also plan and create an annual Anti-Bullying House event in which the whole Prep School participates.

Anti-Bullying Ambassadors (ABAs) are visible in the playground and children know who they can approach if they are feeling unhappy. The ABAs work alongside playground friends to help children to play together safely and in a fun and welcoming environment.

The ABAs have presented their vision and values to all Prep staff at staff meetings and also to school governors.

We are passionate about the eradication of any bullying at the school and are working with the Senior School to develop a whole school approach.

We believe we are doing something special at The Academy and making people’s lives better!
