S1 & S2 History

In S1-2 we seek to develop the skills necessary to become a successful historian.  We introduce the idea of evidence and the need to be critical with evidence.  There are few right answers in history, and a lot of different interpretations of the past.  We look at a range of early periods of history in S1, from The Egyptians to the Scottish Wars of Independence.

In S2 we seek to develop the complexity of the source material we look at and also sophistication in terms of response. We look at more recent events, including the Civil Rights movement in America and The Holocaust.  Above all we seek to encourage enjoyment of learning and an understanding of the importance of the past and what it can teach us today.  The skills we develop have a direct application in how students access and interpret information in the modern era.
