Uniform Shop

Through the generosity of parents donating items of uniform, The Glasgow Academy Community Association are able to offer a large range of second hand uniform for purchase.

All of our Academy-branded second hand stock is listed and available to purchase through our presence on Uniformerly.co.uk. The website is regularly updated as we receive donations.

How to purchase uniform

Firstly visit Uniformerly.co.uk and complete the registration process (the LEA is Glasgow City and then select “The Glasgow Academy”). Once registered click on the “Find My School”, select The Glasgow Academy, and then you will be able to browse the items we have for sale using the search function. Items can be added to your shopping basket and then payment can be made via PayPal or credit card. Once an order is placed and paid for it can be collected from the senior school reception at Kelvinbridge.

If what you are looking for is not available, there is an option on the website to set up an “alert” for items. Alternatively, you can also email us at uniformshop@tgacommunity.org.uk just in case the item is not yet listed on the website.

Our stock

We have categorised the items as follows:

  • Used great condition. The item is used but with little/no abrasions and no stains, with buttons/zips present/working;
  • Used good condition. Whilst second hand, the items are fully workable and wearable and of a standard as parents we believe is acceptable to wear from purchase and represents the standard expected at The Glasgow Academy, albeit they do have signs of use and wear); or
  • New. Occasionally, we do receive items that are “new” and unworn, with their tags still attached or of exceptional quality and we will list these separately.

All of our blazers are professionally dry cleaned ready for purchase. We expect all donations to be provided clean and ready for sale. When selecting items from our stock, we are using a “best available at the time of selection” approach.

How do I know what size I need? We suggest you follow the age of your child and size guides on the sites stocking “new” kit, noting we do have various brands of the same item that can fit to a different size.  We have listed the items by size according to their labels. Where there is no label we have tried to estimate the size by comparison.

Our prices

Our prices are listed per item on unifomerly.co.uk; generally, they are 50% of the new price of the item, with a slight differential between great, good or new with tags.

When you have submitted and paid for your order, the Community Association volunteers will then search out the requested item and leave at Kelvinbridge senior school reception for you to collect at your convenience.  We will aim to fulfil orders within 48 hours of purchase.

Exchanges & Refunds

If the items are not the right size or you are uncomfortable with its quality, we offer a no quibble exchange or return with a credit towards future purchases. Please just contact us at uniformshop@tgacommunity.org.uk and we will arrange this.

Fitting Appointments

If you need multiple items and/or are unsure of sizing, we can arrange a time for you to visit our Stock Room at the Kelvinbridge site with your child/children and a Community Association volunteer will help you locate the items needed. Please contact us at uniformshop@tgacommunity.org.uk to arrange a mutually convenient time.

Direct marketplace

The Uniformerly website also facilitates the sale of items from parent/carer direct to parent/carer. This direct marketplace will also enable you to sell items such as sports equipment (hockey sticks and boots, rugby boots etc), bikes, books. A donation to the Community Association, whilst optional, would be gratefully received, we suggest 10-25% of proceeds. For the parent to parent marketplace, it will be the responsibility of the seller/buyer to arrange collection and payment rather than this being facilitated through the Community Association.

The direct marketplace also a great way to pass on or sell costumes purchased for the various themed events held in the Prep School.

We are grateful for any donations of Academy-branded items of the uniform, which should be left at the main senior school reception at Kelvinbridge freshly cleaned. Unbranded uniform will be sorted for on-donation to apparel exchange. Canterbury sports kit can also be donated for on-donation and re-cycling.  If you have any connections to communities who would be in need of this type of kit, please do contact us as there is still plenty to go round.

When checking donated items if we find any personal items they will be removed from the clothing and stored safely. Please email uniformshop@tgacommunity.org.uk with a description of the item if you think you may have inadvertently left attached to a blazer or other item of uniform.

If you have any comments/feedback about the uniform shop please contact us at uniformshop@tgacommunity.org.uk or chair@tgacommunity.org.uk
