The Glasgow Academy / Friday, November 29, 2019 The Academy scoops Silver at Ski Cross Championships

The Glasgow Academy competed in the SSSA Primary Ski Cross Championships at Snow Factor, Braehead.

With a record number of Academy entrants at 17, making up three teams, two of the three teams finished in the top four out of 19 different competing schools. They raced hard and acquitted themselves admirably over the bumps, turns and berms to secure quick times and gave all other schools a good run for their money!

Well done to our ‘A’ team, consisting of Andrew Rarity, Euan Reilly, Harry Black, Amber Fraser, Harrison Clarke and Robbie Rarity, who earned themselves the Silver medal, behind Robert Gordon’s College.

Well done also to our ‘B’ team who had to cope with only 5 members (an absence through illness), consisting of John Davidson, Alasdair Low, Jessica Davidson ,Harrison Clarke and Theo Macadam. And our ‘C’ team who put in a heroic effort, narrowly missing out on bronze! They were: Lucy Hill, Robbie Black, Annabel Lapping, James Strong, Dominic Sorrentino and Olly Chadwick.

The Senior School A team also secured Silver in their ski cross competition, missing top spot by one point to Jordanhill against twenty-one teams. Robin (S2) achieved a fantastic 2nd place in the S1-3 boys competition in a field of over 60 skiers.

Many congratulations also go to Louise (S4) who came 3rd in the S4-6 category, with Charlotte (S6) in 4th. The teams did a great job against strong competition from across Scotland.

Well done to all!
