The end of season Senior 7s series proved to be very worthwhile for The Academy.
Our first tournament was at Hutchesons' Grammar where we played three group fixtures, winning two of them. The qualifiers came down to points differential which saw us move into the Plate side of the draw. Here we scored over 50 points in our semi-final versus Aberdeen Grammar. The boys took this form into the final where we defeated High School of Dundee by a single score.
High School of Glasgow was our next tournament, where again we won 2 from 3 in the group stages - and once more we entered the Plate section. In the semi-final we defeated Hutchesons' Grammar by over 40 points and again took this form into the final where defeated another local rival, Kelvinside Academy.
Our final tournament was the Caritas 7s held in Edinburgh by George Watson's College. Wins against High School of Dundee and Aberdeen Grammar saw us qualify for the semi-finals of the Cup. Here we played a strong Howe of Fife team; it took a last play of the game score by Scott Briggs to see the boys into the final. We played the hosts George Watson's College in the final where we were finally defeated 29-17 in a very competitive match.
The boys should be applauded for their achievements in what has been a very successful and rewarding set of tournament results.
