The Glasgow Academy is delighted to congratulate former pupil Katie Archibald on yet another Gold medal. This time she secured the individual ‘omnium’ title in the Track Cycling World Championships in Hong Kong.
Although she has now won a total of three Golds, ‘going solo’ was a first for Katie as her previous medals were won in the team pursuit event.
Katie looked very comfortable racing for the first time in the individual event, and cycling commentators are now speculating that the current Olympic champion, Laura Kenny, will have a fight on her hands when she returns from pregnancy if she is to secure a third Olympic omnium title at Tokyo 2020.
We’re all behind you, Katie!
