The Glasgow Academy, Dairsie


For families located in the south of the city who want their children to attend The Academy, our Dairsie site in Newlands may well be worth considering. Dairsie provides young children (aged 3 – 8) with the opportunity to be part of a large, forward-thinking independent school whilst enjoying all the benefits of a warm, friendly ‘family’ atmosphere. Dairsie is a fully integrated part of the Prep School whilst still retaining lots of individual charm and character. Its curriculum is harmonised with that studied by the pupils at the main site at Kelvinbridge. Indeed, the P3 and 4 pupils from Dairsie visit Kelvinbridge for a half day every week in order to make use of the excellent PE, Music and ICT facilities available there. Perhaps more importantly, the pupils from Dairsie have the opportunity to get to know their peers at the Kelvinbridge site in preparation for their full integration come P5. Joint events throughout the year further help to promote this feeling of oneness. Class sizes at Dairsie are typically considerably smaller than the comparable stage at Kelvinbridge, thus allowing for even more individual attention.

Breakfast club and after school care facilities are available at Dairsie and the site further benefits from excellent bus links to Kelvinbridge.
