Rowing Club

This takes place on Monday (S1 - S2) and Friday (S3 - S6)  between 4.00 and 5.00pm.  In addition, early morning sessions for our serious rowers are on Tuesday and Thursday at 7.15am.  At the weekends we row on the Clyde at Glasgow Green from 1.00 to 4.00pm and on Sunday by arrangement with the school coach.

Rowing is also available as a games option for most Senior School year groups.

Coach in charge: Mr Iain Somerside

Rowing helps develop all-round fitness, concentration and teamwork.  In addition, we try to develop athletes who are dedicated, responsible, self-motivated and have good time management skills.

Pupils will start rowing on indoor rowing machines and once the basic technique and skills have been developed they will progress to the water and learn both rowing and sculling.  There will be opportunities to row and compete at indoor rowing as well as in crew boats at events throughout Scotland.  Our top rowers will also have the chance to compete further afield in England and on the Continent.  At the highest level this sport is performance based; however, all pupils taking parts in the sport are tested and will be able to assess their individual development and ongoing improvement over the school year.
