Over 100 new parents and staff came to the PTA Welcome Evening in August and the chat was soon in full flow! Our Welcome evening is proving to be very popular, as it gives parents and staff, old and new, a chance to meet in an informal setting and hopefully get the answers to any questions they might have.
The PTA Fashion Show2011
The PTA organised a fashion show, held in the Cargill Hall on Thursday 3rd November 2011. This is the third fashion show the PTA has organised and they are proving ever more popular. Over 140 pupils and staff became super models for the evening and strutted their stuff to wild applause from the audience!
PREP SCHOOL CHRISTMAS PARTIES
Once again, the Prep School Hall was transformed into Santa’s Grotto. Pupils from Prep 1 – 3 and Kindergarten had a wonderful time singing, dancing and playing games. Then each child received a gift from Santa , who had popped in to visit! Parents and teachers had great fun organising this event, which is funded by the PTA.
UNIFORM SALES
The PTA holds a twice-yearly Uniform Sale in January and June. The sale in January raised £1660. A huge thank you to all those who help at these events, with a special mention to Jennifer Whyte who has organised 19 sales in a row!
LADIES’ LUNCH 2012
On Sunday 5th February, 200 ladies attended our third Ladies’ Lunch. This time, the lunch was held in the stunningly beautiful Ballroom of the Grand Central Hotel. The event began with a glass of fizz, followed by a delicious three course lunch and a chocolate fountain. The sound of merry chatter filled the air amidst much laughter!
Thanks to the incredible generosity of those attending the lunch and to all who donated prizes for the event, almost £7000 was raised! An amazing amount! The money this year went into PTA funds and has been distributed amongst various departments in the school. (See below)
The next Ladies’ Lunch is on Sunday 3rd February 2013. Put it in your diary!

PREP SCHOOL DISCOS
After the success of the discos last year, the PTA agreed that this should become another fixture in the diary. On Friday 18th March, the Prep School hall was transformed, as pupils from P4, P5, P6 and P7 danced the night away. The hall was a sea of dancing children (and some PTA parents and staff!) illuminated by hundreds of glow sticks and glow bracelets. Fantastic fun!
Every year GAPTA supports a number of school charities and projects. Details of recent donations are shown below:
