The Glasgow Academy Dairsie is situated in Newlands on the south side of Glasgow. Our school is housed in an Edwardian Villa and has been on this site since 1919.
We are a small, happy, friendly and welcoming school. We endorse the Academy's "Can Do" philosophy. Small classes mean our children receive a lot of attention and the teacher has time to help. Every child is important and given every encouragement to develop intellectually, socially and emotionally, with the aim of becoming an effective contributor and responsible citizen.
We have an Open Door policy and parents are always welcome. We as a staff aim to be accessible to our parents and they can speak to the class teacher informally in the morning before school or after school. They may also make an appointment if required.
Whilst the school is small, we make good use of every available space. Our gym hall is used for PE, Music, Assembly, After School Care and as a play area. Our library is also the ICT suite, audio visual room and French
classroom. Our playground has recently been upgraded and is a safe, secure and fun area for the children to play.
All in all, Dairsie represents an excellent start to a child’s education, providing a safe, happy and secure environment where the curriculum is delivered to nurture successful learners and confident individuals.
