Welcome to the Department of External Relations
For over six years now, The Academy has had an office dedicated to helping people who want to find out more about the school. Many who contact us are parents who want to know what The Academy can offer their children if they were to decide to send them here as pupils. Some may be reporters or journalists researching a story about Glasgow independent schools. An increasing number of people who get in touch with us are former pupils of The Academy or Westbourne School. Some make contact again after a long period of silence; others regularly let us know what is happening in their lives. As a school, it is our aim to keep in touch with all our former pupils, whether they left in 1936 or in 2006. (It was a great joy recently for us to meet for the first time someone who left in 1923!) As well as the Chronicle – the school magazine – we produce a publication called Etcetera which we send out to all former pupils who keep us updated with their contact details. You can download back-numbers of Etcetera from this section of website. If you’re a former pupil, you can also update your address and other contact information on line. Best of all, why not pay us a visit if you’re in Glasgow? Phone or email us and let us know when you can come in. We’d be delighted to welcome you back to your old school. Malcolm McNaught |
