The Glasgow Academy has a tradition of fostering academic excellence and we are proud of our pupils’ achievements. Results in SQA examinations are frequently among the very best in the country. Please click on the icon displayed below if you would like to download details of our pupils’ most recent results in these examinations.
Over 95 per cent of our pupils go on to study degree courses on leaving The Academy. As an independent school, The Academy is free to choose courses of study which it considers most beneficial for its pupils. We combine traditional teaching methods with the best of modern techniques in order to meet the challenge of today’s courses. You will find details of courses studied at each level of the Senior School in the Department pages of this site.
In Higher exams pupils are usually presented for five subjects. However, a number of pupils achieve six or seven Highers. In the summer of 2006 Samira Rudig-Sotomayor gained seven Highers, all 'A' passes. She was the only person in the entire country to achieve such a high standard and was awarded the Scottish Qualifications Authority gold award for academic excellence in their annual awards ceremony. Samira was offered a place at Cambridge to read Natural Sciences, but chose to go to Harvard. In 2013 Zuhayr Siddiqui clocked up a record 8 A grades at Higher, plus an A at Advanced Higher, plus grade 8 (violin), grade 7 (piano) and plenty of hockey, singing and drama, whilst still only 16 and in S5.
The exam results of The Academy are available to view in detail below, including a comparison by subject and by year:
